A new study conducted during the pandemic points to leaders’ adoption of a personal growth mindset and a culture of ‘psychological safety’ as differentiators.
As we near a full year of working remotely, development of a positive team climate is increasingly important in fostering high performance. There is “psychological safety” in this type of environment. McKinsey released a new survey conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic and found that less than half of respondents reported their workplaces as positive climates. Psychological safety stems from consultative and supportive leadership; and it emanates from the top. When an organization’s senior executives adopt a personal growth mindset and sponsor development of other leaders, they create a positive team climate. In turn, the likelihood of fostering psychological safety is higher. McKinsey suggests the best way to start is by investing in leadership development.
